FOOR GIFT BACKGROUND The Friends of the Mineral County Library/Alberton (FOLA) received a wonderful donation from Ruth Sypian last fall. Replacing the flooring in the library was important to Ruth.
In July of 2020, Librarian Connie Ackert attended the Town Council meeting to present a request to replace the flooring in the library area of the community building. The Council assigned the task of getting bids with input from library staff. The bids will be discussed at the Town Council meeting Sept. 1. We are asking for thoughts on the Friends' support/donation of this project.
NOTE: All shelving and books must be removed for this project. However, the community room has limited space on Tuesdays and Thursday, as seniors need several tables for lunch distribution. This would most likely conflict with the flooring project. We are anticipating the need for a pod/ truck to store books and/or shelving during the reflooring. We'll be asking FOLA to defray this cost, if necessary. Hopefully, a combination of the community room and a pod would work nicely and efficiently.
We've asked the Town to lead the project to which we will contribute financially. It is under consideration. Stay tuned for further news.
